Greg Rucka was born Gregory Rucka and used that name until book cover layout issues led him to adopt the use of "Greg" upon the publication of his first Atticus Kodiak novel Keeper.

Greg was born in San Francisco, won his first writing award at the age of nine placing first in a county-wide short story contest, attended Vassar College, and earned a Masters at USC.

Rucka is the author of a dozen msytery/suspense novels including six featuring bodyguard Atticus Kodiak, and two featuring Tara Chace in his Queen and Country series. Atticus Kodiak is portrayed as an "everyman" type of character in his first appearance in Keeper. A bodyguard running a small team of protection agents, his main focus in this first outing is the safeguarding of an abortion clinic doctor and her daughter. The ensuing tragedy that forms the basis of the book earmarked Rucka as a cut above the norm suspense author and cemented Atticus Kodiak as a character readers wanted to see more of. Over the course of the most recent books in the series, we have seen Kodiak become involved, in all sense of the word, with one of the world's elite assasins. The Kodiak books are great reads for any fan of mystery or suspense, and are recommended to be taken in order of publication as a strong sense of continuity is maintained throughout the various books.

In addition to also penning the British cloak and dagger suspense series Queen and Country featuring Tara Chace, Rucka is also active in the world of comic books having penned multiple issues of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. He has also created his own stable of comic book characters, including the award winning Whiteout series, most of which are published by Oni Press.

Rucka currently lives with his family in Portland, Oregon and is probably playing the video game Call Of Duty 4 as you read this.
